Day 1:  Friday, November 18, 2016

On Arrival via Air from Hong Kong we will be meet by our English speaking guide in Hanoi  and transfer to hotel for some free time to recover from the long journey. In the evening we will have a short orientation meeting during happy hour followed by dinner and  water puppet show. ( D) Silk Path



Day 2:  Saturday , November 19, 2016

 Following breakfast at our Hotel we will have a short painting demo and  art class at or near our  hotel with a casual afternoon and walk around Hoan Kiem lake sandwiched between the old quarter and the French quarter and central to Hanian folklore.  We will have plenty of time to wander, explore and independently before meeting for happy hour and dinner at a local restaurant. Day 3:   Sunday, November 20, 2016

Following breakfast we will be picked up at the hotel for an early morning departure to HaLong Bay.   Winding our way along the highway and through rice paddy fields on arrival we will board a junk   for a cruise among the hundreds of islets dropping anchor in the late evening for a seafood dinner and overnight stay among the dramatic limestone peaks rising out of the sea.  Before we lose the light we will have time to do some drawing and painting on board.  (B,L,D) (Indochina Sails)


Day 4: Monday, November 21, 2016

Return to Hanoi, en route stop at Bac Ninh, take a horse-drawn cart and visit Dinh Bang communal house and Do Temple. Enjoy local folk songs before returning to Hanoi.  The evening off to enjoy dinner and relax before our morning departure to Hoi An.  Silk Path Hotel


Day 5: Tuesday, November 22 2016

 After breakfast pick up and transfer to airport for flight to DaNang. Upon arrival, visit the Cham Museum in Da Nang which houses the world’s finest collection of Cham artworks before proceeding to Hoi An. Pay a visit to one of Hoi An’s famous lantern workshops and learn how to make one yourself before setting out on a walking tour to explore this World Heritage Site. Highlights include an ancient merchant house, the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the vibrant riverside market. Take a peaceful boat trip on the Thu Bon River and afterwards enjoy free time to further explore the old town. (B)  Vinh Hung Emerald Resort


Day 6: Wendesday, November 23, 2016

Following breakfast a morning art class is planned with free time to explore Hoi An after lunch.  There will be plenty of time to revisit the Japanese Bridge for some drawing and painting time or fill your boots with local arts, culture and history.  Start at the Museum of Trade Ceramics in Hoi An’s old quarter and explore the dynamic trade industry across Asia. Next, examine incredible and bizarre terra cotta works, including ceramic jars once used as coffins, at the Sa Huynh Culture Museum.  (B) Vinh Hung Emerald Resort


Day 7: Thursday, November 24, 2016

Following breakfast and and early morning painting session an optional visit to Cham Islands is planned.  Travel by speedboat and enjoy the natural beauty of this group of small islands, set in the clear blue waters off the central coast of Vietnam. Stroll along quiet beaches and relax in the sand while enjoying a seafood lunch caught fresh from the crystal waters. Book a dive trip and explore the colorful coral and tropical marine life, or get up close with tropical fish on an afternoon snorkel excursion. Vinh Hung Emerald Resort


Day 8:  Friday, November 25, 2016

Following breakfast and our morning painting session our guest will have the afternoon off to relax by the pool, shop draw or paint.  Late afternoon we will have a painting demonstration and critic on how we can improve our location paintings.(B) Vinh Hung Emerald Resort


Day 9: Saturday, November 26, 2016

Pick up and transfer to airport for flight to Saigon. Transfer to the airport for flight to Saigon. Upon arrival, visit the Reunification Palace (photo stop), the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, Chinatown, the Binh Tay Market and either the Thien Hau Temple or the Quan Am Pagoda. Day 10: Sunday, November 27, 2016

Following breakfast we will hit the busy streets of Ho Chi Mihn City for some drawing and painting followed by a boat trip to Cai Rang floating market  (a staple of life in the Mekong).   This is where many of the natives make their living by selling or bartering their goods.  Liberty Central Saigon Riverside Hotel


Day 11: Monday, December 28, 2016

 Depart Ho Chi Minh City for the Mekong Delta. At My Tho take a boat cruise along the river and a short walk to visit a handicraft workshop with products made from coconut tree. Experience a horse-drawn cart to visit a local house where you can enjoy tea and tasting some tropical fruits grown in the region. Float on a sampan through the narrow, tree-lined canals of the Mekong Delta. After lunch visit a family-run business making coconut candies before returning to My Tho mainland.  Visit the Vinh Trang pagoda if time permits. Return to Ho Chi Minh City by late afternoon. Day 12: Tuesday, December 29, 2016

Following breakfast we will transfer to our Hotel for our Flight to Siem Rep where we will be met by our English speaking guide and transferred to our Hotel. Free time for a painting lesson before happy hour and dinner at a nearby restaurant. (B)  Tara Angkor Hotel


Day 13: Wednesday, November 30, 2016

A free day to enjoy shopping, painting, or simply relaxing.  For happy hour we are planing an evening painting demonstration and critic of work so far.   An early dinner is planned so everyone had time to pack for our Cambodia portion of our Journey.

Day 14:  Wednesday, December 1, 2016

Following breakfast we will visit Angkor Thom via the Southern Gate and explore the ancient city. Then proceed to visit the ruins at Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, the Royal Palace, the Elephant Terrace and the Leper King Terrace. The afternoon is free for painting (B) Tara Angkor Hotel


Day 15: Thursday, December 2, 2016

After breakfast, visit the epic Angkor Wat, viewing its extraordinary architecture and bas-reliefs. The afternoon is free for painting or return to Siem Rep for some shopping.   We meet at our Hotel for our Final Happy Hour,  Artwork share and  Farewell Dinner. ( B) Tara Angkor Hotel


Day 16:  Friday, December 3, 2016 Tsfr to airport for departure flight via Hong Kong. ( For those interested in a shopping extension in Hong Kong – our travel agent Cultural Tours will be happy to make arrangements for you.)
