Bali 2013

Join Phoenix Art Workshop owner Mark Glavina and guest artist/instructor Shary Bartlett as they lead your artistic pilgrimage to the beautiful tropical islands of Bali in the Indonesian archipelago.  Explore the art of travel in Ubud, the exotic and inspirational cultural hub of Bali, then relax in the quiet north coast town of Amed before winding up our two week adventure in Jimberan Bay.  A significant component of this travel excursion will include learning about local arts and crafts, visiting local galleries and artisan workshops, and enjoying the unique Balinese music and dancing.  Eat, Paint, and Live the creative adventure of Bali.

*** Travellers have an opportunity to extend their visit to the island paradise of the  Gili Islands or Yogyakarta, the cultural capital of Java. This portion of the group’s tour will be unaccompanied by a group leader.

UBUD is the cultural hub of Bali. For more than a century, it has been the island’s preeminent centre for fine arts, dance, and music. Ubud is surrounded by most of the things that bring people to Bali – scenic rice fields, small villages, art and craft communities, ancient temples, art galleries, palaces, rivers, and natural beauty. Ubud’s central location makes it an essential stop, and its easy access to the mountains, beaches, and major towns makes it a popular base while visiting Bali.

AMED is a quiet resort area in north eastern Bali, famous for its natural beauty. Amed is largely a coastal fishing village renowned for its stunningly beautiful sunrises and sunsets and the local inhabitants’ genuine hospitality. Black sand beaches, warm crystal clear waters and a diverse marine life ensure excellent snorkeling and scuba diving.

JIMBARAN BAY Fringed by one of the best fine white sand beaches in Bali, the Bay area is famous for its stunning sunsets, seafood market, and beach-side seafood restaurants. The little town of Jimbaran is a typical Balinese society only 15 min from the famous cliff-hanging temple at Uluwatu.
